Maintenance is a part of everyday life, every morning you get up and you maintain your own body by brushing your teeth and showering, the same is done with all other things. You maintain your home your occupation, and last of all you maintain your vehicle. There are many people that neglect the maintenance of their transportation, that is they don't do it for years on end either from complete neglect for the condition of their vehicle or due to overconfidence in the durability of their vehicle. This is usually prevalent in beginners, namely people that haven't had much experience with their vehicle also known as young bikers. Working hard to get the bike you want doesn't end when you get the bike, that's only the beginning especially if the bike is second hand.
So it's time to maintain and ensure that bike does actually start and ride smoothly when you need it to. First is the bike's oil, you'll want to be consistent with the kind of oil you use since most bikes have what's known as a “wet clutch”, which means the engine oil also serves as the transmission fluid. Changing the oil is different for most bikes but generally you open and drain the previous oil then fill it up with the new oil. That's the first important part to maintain, your bike's oil ensures that everything runs smoothly and remains relatively cooled while they operate.
The filters on the bike also play a fairly important role in how it operates, your oil filter should be changed every time you change the oil. Most people simply clean out the filter and reuse it, though it's not recommended it can be done if you can't replace that time. Then there is the motorbike air filter which is what shoves oxygen within the engine's cylinder so it can be mixed with the fuel which creates the combustion that moves it forward. Your ordinary motorbike air filter can be changed out for something that increases the performance by increasing the airflow through the cylinder. It's pretty simple to change out the air filter of your bike, it usually sits under the gas tank of the bike.
Cleaning and oiling the chain is also a fairly important process to partake in every so often, especially if you ride when it rains. You're going to have to lift your bike and spin the tyre when you first clean and then oil it.
